Create EU Food Allergen Regulation (FIC) Compliant Labels With Label Commander
Changes to food labeling in the European Union
have now in place since 2014. Under EU Regulation N°1169/2011 (Food Information to Consumers), the ingredient labels
of all food and beverage sold in the EU should emphasis
any of the 14 allergens that are on the regulatory list.
Label Commander is a professional label software, with its inbuilt EU food allergen regulation text filter,
users may create standard compliant label with minimum affort. Here
is the how-to:
Click on "Create New Project" button on the main
window of Label Commander.
Select "Create from template". On
category section, select EU food allergen regulation(FIC).
Select
a template on the list and click "Next" button to finish project
creation.
Go to label designer from the main window, select the
project just created.
On the editing area of the Label Designer,
you may freely adding or editing the FIC filter: select a text
element, on the properties area which located on the right side of
the window, there is a Filter properties. To add a new FIC filter,
click the + button and select Text filter:EU food allergen
regulation. to edit the filter, select the EU food allergen
regulation on the filter list and click edit button.
On the
filter editing window, you may edit the list of allergen ingredients.
Please note that the software's inbuilt list may NOT include all
allergen ingredients or spelling variations, you are responsible to the content
of the allergen ingredient list.
After the filter enabled the
software will automatically emphasis all listed allergens while
printing.
Addtional info about VDP(Variable Data Printing)
Label Commander users VDP technology for label printing. In an element's content, a string surrounded by
a field block <% %> represents a database field,
and a string surrounded by <# #> represents a print-time variable.(i.e.
<%ID%> represents the database field named ID)
A database field is a variable value.
while printing the software will replace the field block with
content from database. To edit the database content, you may
use the Database Management feature.
A print-time variable is a
variable that require users to input data, like database field,
those data can be merged into design while printing but unlike
database fields, the data of print-time variable will not be saved persistently
and only available while printing.
